About Us

In Catholic Social Teaching (CST), the universal call to love our neighbor as ourselves includes everyone, especially those most in need of God’s love.  The JPIC National Office serves to empower women and children and all people who are living on the margins of society through an interlocking framework of Advocacy, Education and Direct Service.

Advocacy

Supporting advocacy efforts of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, Catholic Charities USA and Catholic Relief Services; and in collaboration with other major Catholic organizations.

Education

Providing educational resources and increasing awareness of justice and peace for our SND stakeholders: sisters, associates, colleagues, young adults, and those working in sponsored ministries.

Direct Service

Volunteerism, immersion and activities that engage SND stakeholders in serving people on the margins by creating networks of helpers. Forging a deeper, clear understanding of what impacts our vulnerable populations on the local, national and global levels.

The Mission

JPIC directs, coordinates, and provides support across the US, with concentrated effort towards women, children, and the elderly, care of creation, migrants and refugees, human trafficking, and family life.

Corporate Stances

The Sisters of Notre Dame, founded to respond to the needs of children who were not being educated,

have a long history of responding to the signs of the times.

In the United States, when a particular area of need emerges and a strong response

from the entire community is discussed, a Corporate Stance dealing with the issue is proposed.

The Process of taking a Corporate Stance includes a period of intense education, prayer, reflection, and discussion on the topic at both individual and community levels as well as passage by a minimum two-thirds vote.

To date, we have taken 4 Corporate Stances throughout the province.

Voter Voice

Voter Voice is a web-based advocacy system which notifies subscribers about specific issues and enables them to choose whether they want to send a letter to their legislators telling them how they feel about a particular piece of legislation.
